A tap machine using molecular mixing.

Baron, a pioneering startup, approached Made with a unique challenge: translating their revolutionary scientific technology of molecular mixing into a product. After in-depth interviews with beer lovers and brewers, we combined our digital and product expertise to create a recognizable brand, an intuitive and desirable product experience and a first working prototype. A consumer tapping machine that enables users to brew any beer they desire in a split second by ‘simply’ mixing different molecules on the spot.

Product Design Language

Growing a sustainable product portfolio requires a strong design language. For Baron this needs to blend into one’s home interior, yet showcasing a high-end aesthetic, highlighting its unique features and innovative functionality.

Staying true to this new way of dispensing beer, Made decided to avoid traditional beer cues and instead emphasize the molecular mixing rather than brewing functionality of the machine.

A timeless design, hinting at the practicality, curated by warm materials, refined details and organic lines, supports a strong yet inviting and recognizable look. The result: a molecular beer dispenser that complements your living space and stands as a symbol of innovation in the world of smart appliances and beer lovers.

From idea to MVP in less than a year

Collaborating closely with dedicated scientific and engineering teams, Made took on the role of user advocate, guarding ergonomics, interaction, and desirability through continuous testing and iterations. The multi-disciplinary effort and expertise significantly sped up the progress, allowing us to transform the initial concept into a fully functional MVP in less than one year.

Phygital

Embracing Made’s phygital approach, our collaborative team of digital and product designers worked in tandem with the engineering team.

User experience and interface vs. innovative features and engineering: getting into all the details, from cooling the water to pouring your desired beer, and refilling ingredients, we aimed for that optimal user flow that guarantees a coherent interaction across the entire machine. The result: an intuitive and efficient design, prioritizing user experience across all touchpoints.

We reframe problems into innovation

Maintenance is an inevitable yet essential part of the user experience. So equal attention and focus were attributed to changing the flavor cartridges and refilling the machine with water, malt and alcohol.

Great products deserve a great brand

Great products come with great brands. Made created an appealing brand identity, inspired by beer - premium and breathing innovation. This included developing Bar.on’s website, crafting packaging and visionary concepts, etc. All efforts aimed at enhancing the holistic brand experience and magnifying its market impact.

The brand is embodied by a beer-inspired color scheme paired with a fresh, modern and high-end feel, and a logo referring to the Baron’s molecular methodology.
