We’re compensating our CO2 and so can you!
750 trees planted
Made is all about exciting change and pushing delivery to create a positive impact in the world. To walk our talk we decided to look into our own footprint and decide to compensate for it.
So we calculated our emissions from 2020 and started looking for solutions.

It wasn’t easy to find the right partner. There are so many ways to calculate your footprint, so many different trees, so many different countries to plant them in. And all these parameters play their role in the amount of CO2 you can compensate for.
At first, we wanted to plant trees closeby, in Belgium, as also here deforestation and renaturing are important! Maybe in the future, we will also support more local initiatives as we want to contribute to our community in Belgium. But we decided to plant trees in Peru.

The argument that convinced us to plant trees in Peru was 2 fold:
- CO2 emissions are a worldwide problem. We’re all interconnected.
- The climate of Peru makes the trees grow 4 times faster compared to Belgium. So they can process much more CO2, much faster. Our impact per euro is higher.
- It takes a few years until small trees have grown enough to compensate for our full year of emissions. But afterward, they continue to compensate for the rest of their lifetime. It’s a gift that keeps on giving.

Go Forest convinced us they were the right partner with a strong track record and interesting blockchain technologies which will allow us to follow up on the actual CO2 we have compensated and the actual trees planted. This will allow us to decide next year how many trees we would like to add versus our actual emissions.
Go Forest also offers a nice mix of trees to maintain biodiversity. Some trees grow faster and compensate for more CO2, but others bear fruits which is great for the local economy (agroforestry).
